NIIT has developed a process for development of weather resistant coir geotextile.
This material can be used for construction of roads, protection of sea/river shores with improved strength and without frequent replacements in soil erosion prevention. The cost of treatment is only 10% of the cost of the geotextile. Geotextile fabrics come in three basic forms: non-woven, woven or heat bonded
The potential markets are construction, sea erosion control, river bank protection. Coir Geotextiles protect land surface and promote quick vegetation. Geotextiles are a wonderful treasure of natural echo friendly, erosion control blankets in woven and non-woven preparations. Totally biodegradable, geotextiles help soil stabilisation and renew vegetation in varying slopes.
