Carbon nanotubes are the emerging material of choice for several industries. Carbon atoms are made to form chains, a series of such chains are woven into a ‘fabric’, which is folded into a nanotube. These nanotubes are extremely small but very, very strong.

NPL has developed ‘Bucky paper’, an important material for various applications, such as batteries electrode, super capacitors, actuators, sensors, conducting reinforcement, EMI shielding and structure application. A process has been developed to prepare different size of flexible CNT papers i.e. 10 cm dia, 20 cm × 20 cm and 35 cm x 35 cm. These thin free standing papers are prepared by steps of dispersion, ultra-sonication and vacuum filtration of CNTs.

 Applications
 Electrodes for Batteries and Fuel Cells Reinforcement Sheet
 EMI Shielding Materials for Aerospace and Automobiles
 Lightning Protection Armor Plating
 Thermal Heat sinks for Electronic Equipment Air and Liquid Filtration Systems.

The present technology is a cost effective approach towards the preparation of flexible freestanding paperby utilizing low cost ingredient in the processing.

Those who wish to buy this technology from NPL should contact:
